A More Improved Lattice Action for Heavy Quarks

of a continuum field theory. The Lj are higherdimensional operators. The lattice action is adjusted so that the short-distance Kj coefficients vanish, at least approximately. The Fermilab formalism [4] takes Wilson fermions [2] with the clover action [3] and introduces different couplings for space-like and time-like interactions. Ref. [4] considers operators up to dimension five. Ref. [5] adds dimension-six operators to this action. In this paper, we give a more complete action which has dimension six and some dimension seven operators and determine the couplings by matching at tree level.

We use improved lattice actions for glue, light quarks and heavy quarks for which we use lattice NRQCD to compute hadron masses. Our results are in good agreement with experiment, except for charmed hadrons. It seems that charmed quarks are not well approximated as heavy quarks nor as light quarks.
